Fiber Diameter Selection
Fiber diameter selection depends on the surgical procedure, desired tissue effects and the surgeon’s personal preference.
Fibers with small core diameters minimize lateral tissue damage, are more flexible and tend to cut faster when used in contact than larger diameter fibers.
Because of this minimal lateral energy dissipation, smaller diameter fibers provide less hemostatic effect than larger diameter fibers.
Coaxial Endostat™ Fiber
The Coaxial Endostat™ fiber is placed in an outer catheter and centered at the distal end with a metal nozzle.
A coaxial stream of gas or liquid flows around the fiber and out from the distal end.
This flow allows the fiber to be passed through the endoscopic working channel without accumulating excess debris.
Coaxial flow provides cooling and protection of the fiber end during laser activation and multiple passes in and out of the endoscope.
Coaxial Endostat fibers are used to vaporize or coagulate obstructive tissue and are designed for use in a non-contact technique.
It can be used with flexible endoscopes with various working channels.
